About giddy giddy

So how did this all begin? I recall being crafty for as long as I can remember. I was the dorky kid endlessly tinkering with tape, cardboard boxes, glue, fabric and wood. In fact, I was so geeky that I tried to pass off my homemade stickers made from masking tape for the real tradeable kind. In order to procure the cute hello kitty stickers my friends were trading, I decided to design "hello patty" stickers. What? Who wouldn't want hello patty stickers?? Apparently, no one.

Still I went on to draw, paint, and sew throughout my very prolific childhood.

Ironically, I found myself in the investment industry for many many years. It was exciting work that challenged and intrigued me. I learned an incredible amount, but admittedly, being an investment analyst was only a detour. I consider myself lucky for that experience, it just wasn't my true passion.

Inevitably, when my first daughter was born in 2003, I rediscovered the joy of making stuff, particularly things that focused on taming and disguising her unruly and unfortunate mohawk.

What's in a name? I often get asked where I came up with the name giddy giddy. The name was inspired by the Japanese-Hawaiian term "giri giri" which refers to a cowlick, or the little swirl in the back of a child's hair. And since giri sounds like giddy, it made perfect sense to call my company founded on baby hair clips... giddy giddy.

Doing good. I want to make sure we are doing good things. One of my business goals is to provide a sustainable income for my family back in the Philippines. In addition, we participate in microlending via Kiva because we know how important it is to help women around the world gain funding to help kick-start their own dreams & passions.

Thanks for visiting giddy giddy. We hope you like what you see!
